*"Athletics has always been a big part of my life - biking, hiking, tennis, running, etc. In 2008 I found myself going through pre-menopause and was struggling with my mood swings and weight gain. In January of 2008 I decided to take control over the situation and set attainable weight loss goals for myself. As a result I lost 30 lbs by May 2008 - an average of about 1.5 pounds per week. I accomplished this goal by working out 4-5 days a week and changing my diet to one that mimics a diabetic diet - nothing white but lots of poultry, fish, veggies, fruits and lots of water.
